The ‘Katie Hewison Chorley Duathlon’ is an off road run, bike, run race held annually in Astley park Chorley. Duathlon is a great way to give multi sport racing a go or to sharpen you up before the start of the triathlon season
The event is for both newbies and seasoned athletes alike. A great atmosphere with cakes, stands, entertainment and of course the all important races makes this a fun event not to be missed.
Organised by Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club, the event was initially set up as a junior race. However, 2016 saw the inclusion of the first adult’s race as part of Chorley Council’s Go Tri programme.
Katie is honoured to support the race and has been involved since it was first set up in 2014. The event is part of the North West Junior Triathlon Series and is also the annual race used for the Chorley Schools Duathlon Championships.
The duathlon has been a huge success with over 300 children taking part in 2016. This included those who have never competed through to North West Triathlon Series competitors.
The 2017 Chorley Duathlon will be held on May 6th, to enter please click here.
“For me, this was the best children’s event I have officiated at so far. The event organisers and her team leaders where excellent, always available and where all very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this race to any children who are thinking of giving triathlon/Duathlon a try.”British Triathlon Chief Technical Official
